About this course

In Daftra, fixed assets are managed from "General Accounts" then "Assets", where you define each asset, its account in the "Chart of Accounts" and its depreciation method, then follow its value and status.

The course has four practical lessons:

  • Buying an asset from a supplier on credit, then paying for it in instalments with an expense voucher or a journal entry.
  • Assigning assets to employees, users or warehouses, and tracking each unit by its serial number and barcode.
  • Adding a new asset with straight-line depreciation, searching assets and running the assets report.
  • Importing a batch of assets from an Excel file instead of adding them one by one.

What you will learn

  • Add a fixed asset and link it to a main account in the "Chart of Accounts"

  • Record an asset bought on credit and pay for it in instalments
  • Assign assets to employees or warehouses and track their units
  • Import a batch of assets from an Excel file

FAQ

How does the system calculate monthly depreciation?

With the straight-line method, the system works out depreciation from the purchase value and the useful life. An asset costing 10,000 with a five-year (60-month) life and a salvage value of zero depreciates by about 166.67 a month. You can change the frequency to weekly, every six months and so on.

How do I pay for an asset bought on credit?

If the account used is a manual account in the "Chart of Accounts", you can pay with an expense voucher from "Finance" then "Expenses", choosing the supplier's account in the sub-account field. The remainder can be paid later with further vouchers or a journal entry.

What if I import assets incorrectly?

Select the imported assets on the assets page, delete them from "Actions", correct the Excel file and import it again.

What language are the videos in?

The videos are in Arabic. Every lesson has an English transcript and English captions.
